The cupola is rather interesting and does look a bit out of place, mostly because it's so tall on a relatively flat building.

A cupola can serve a useful function by helping the air circulation. The roof opening can draw up the hot air from inside and help cool the inside off. Might be a good thing for a restaurant that cooks food.

Never actually visited a Blimpies....what have I been missing in my life?!

What a cool old house! I love the balconies. Wouldn't it be great to stay there on a balmy summer's eve and just go out on the balcony to catch the breeze?

Reminds me..the Baker house at the corner of 535 and 522 is up for sale. I keep hoping someone will buy it and restore it to its former glory, but I fear some industrial developer will pick it up for the land and location and knock it down.

We seem fascinated with destruction. It's amazing how, even just poised there, the plane evokes such a sense of power and danger.

The black and white is very effective here with the contrasting dark shadow under the jet. It gives it a looming, dangerous presence in what might have just been a cool picture of a plane on a sunny day.

Mankind seems to have had conflict almost from the beginning of time. Military hardware is just the natural escalation of "one-upmanship" in the evolution of the old game "king of the hill." "Build a better rock and they will throw it."

If this is a quiz, you've got me. I earn a zero. White flowers? What color are the berries?

As for the photo? I really like this in sepia. It gives the picture that "antique" look, stopping it in time. I also like the muted, unfocused water in the background with the reflections of surrounding trees. It's a perfect backdrop to the natural beauty of the mysterious bush.

Aha!! Women's Christian Temperance Union and, if I am not mistaken, it is a watering trough for horses or fountain for people. (Most of the time I've heard this one was for horses.)

Opposed to alcoholic beverages and saloons, the WCTU set up such fountains in towns, often near saloons, to encourage people to drink water instead of whiskey. I think the horse troughs were often a part of the human fountains and some had a place for dogs to drink as well.

With a bit of research, I found this website: http://www.wctu.org/fountains.html
Cranbury's fountain is listed as one of only 4 in New Jersey. Cool.

The photo does have that "yesteryear" feel to it...until you notice the dishes.

I think Jamesburg may have had two theaters, but I'm not sure. A bit ironic, that now, above what used to be the theater are the dishes of the very "beast" that killed the local movie show--TV.

Aha! In the photograph, all are static. Trick questions don't get me. *G*

It is an interesting concept and contrast, however. Particularly the woman close center in the shorts with her back to the camera...and just beyond what appears to be a carved torso with legs also facing away from the camera. The photograph has created a link between the two that you might never notice otherwise. (Statue of flesh and statue of stone...how similar in the photo and how different in the dynamic world.)

Before I read your commentary, Stonehenge was exactly what I thought of. I have to think the artist had it in mind as well.

Wonder how light and shadow play on this as the time of day changes. Are the stones close enough that the shadows from one fall on another? Could all be part of the artistic plan if they do.

And, it's another one of those places you really need to explore from different angles...of course, you'd have to stay there all day, just exploring options of a static subject. Not exactly the way I'd spend my day. *lol*
