Di Brizzi’s Lake-Freeze

Di Brizzi's Freeze (Jamesburg NJ)

Frozen custard is one of my favorite desserts.  I bought plenty of it at Di Brizzi’s Lake-Freeze back in the 70s.  It used to be located across from Lake Manalapan in Jamesburg, New Jersey.

The ornamental ice cream cone on the roof of this drive-in was an eye-catcher for many years.  Alas, no more.

Boy, that’s an oldie! I used to love that soft ice cream.

I think they were still there–with the pizza parlor attached when Jamesburg flooded. I remember some girls who worked there telling me the water poured in up to their waists. I don’t think it ever re-opened…but could be wrong. (Flooding I surmise was caused by the warehouse construction up off of Cranbury Road….at least that’s what I think caused it!)
