Many houses along the New Jersey shore are quite stunning. I thought this one particularly captivating.

I was captivated by the light falling across the facade of this lovely church in Freehold, NJ. Also, the border fence has been overgrown by the tree and is now completely enveloped.

Cranberry Harvest

One day, I went to have a look at cranberry harvesting going on at Haines farm near Chatsworth, NJ. It is a very interesting operation. Here we see a rotary beater being used to shake the berries off the bushes so they float to the top of the bog.

Manasquan Reservoir

The changing levels of the water at the Manasquan Reservoir create unusual areas of dead trees. When the water level is low, I enjoy looking at the stumps that litter the shoreline in places.

Irises

At the center of Dayton, NJ, there is a five-corner intersection. Each year, some effort is undertaken to refresh the plantings in this area as a way to beautify the town. The rose and irises and other planting make a beautiful display.

Cotton Candy

I remember as a kid watching the vendor making cotton candy in his special machine. I found the taste of the cotton candy interesting, but unusual. It gummed up in my mouth.

This photo was taken at the Dakota County Fair in Minnesota. My mother used to work at the VFW hamburger stand each summer. I would walk around the fairgrounds hoping to find a quarter in the grass to fetch another ride in the amusement area.

The helicopter makes this veteran’s memorial anything but routine!

I was quite fascinated by the perspective of these pumpkins at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. They are credited to John Ruppert.

I and a friend drove to Chatsworth, New Jersey, intending to photograph the harvesting of cranberries. Enroute, I stopped in at the general store in the center of town. The building was constructed 1865, which dates it back to around the time of the Civil War and Reconstruction.

The store proprietor, R. Marilyn Schmidt was grooming her cat and I thought it would make a nice snapshot.

Princeton Chapel

@ 2014, Donovan D. Klotzbeacher

I enjoy visiting the campus of Princeton University, and particularly, Princeton Chapel. The chapel, completed in 1928, was conceived in collegiate Gothic style by architect, Ralph Adams Cram.

The image was corrected for lens distortion (of the vertical columns) and then converted to black & white for aesthetic reasons.
