While walking around the perimeter of my development, I noticed last year’s cattails that had been cut back by work crews. The new spring growth hasn’t begun yet; only the stubble is still apparent.

I appreciate the way the light creates a translucent effect on these lotus leaves at the Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, New Jersey.
Corn shocks are mostly ornamental nowadays. After picking the corn, farmers used to bundle the corn into shocks. The stalks would eventually dry out and were then used to feed livestock.

The changing levels of the water at the Manasquan Reservoir create unusual areas of dead trees. When the water level is low, I enjoy looking at the stumps that litter the shoreline in places.
